The self-portrait project was an opportunity to express creativity while experimenting with different design software and techniques. The goal was to create a personal and visually engaging piece that reflects individuality while pushing artistic and technical boundaries. The completed portraits were displayed on the walls of Fontys University, making them accessible to both students and teachers.
Goals and Objectives
The main objective of this project was to explore various design tools, experiment with different artistic styles, and develop a stronger command of digital drawing techniques. This project encouraged self-expression while allowing me to refine my creative and technical skills.
Target Audience
The intended audience for this project included both teachers and students at Fontys University. By displaying the portraits in a shared space, the project aimed to foster a sense of community and appreciation for diverse artistic interpretations.
Process and Methodology
I began by experimenting with different software and artistic techniques to determine the best approach for my self-portrait. After exploring various styles, I decided to recreate a photograph in a digital drawing format, focusing on achieving a balance between realism and artistic expression.
Challenges and Solutions
One of the biggest challenges was achieving accurate proportions and ensuring that the portrait closely resembled the original photograph. Capturing fine details and maintaining balance in facial features required significant effort. To overcome this, I carefully analyzed the reference photo, paying close attention to proportions, shading, and structure to refine the accuracy of my drawing.
